A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    Een tropisch boeket van mango, papaja, abrikoos en kamperfoelie barst uit de neus van deze stroperige ijswijn. Hij is gemaakt van 100% Vidal Blanc, geoogst op eersteklas percelen verspreid over het schiereiland Niagara en geperst in bevroren toestand om dit smeuïge mengsel met extreem geconcentreerde smaken te verkrijgen.

    Jackson-Triggs werd in 1993 opgericht door de pioniers Donald Triggs en Allan Jackson. Het is een van Canada's toonaangevende wijnmakerijen en in zijn 30-jarige bestaan is het ook een van de meest bekroonde geworden. Het wijnhuis haalt zijn fruit uit wijngaarden in de Okanagan Valley, British Columbia en vooral van het Niagara Peninsula - de bakermat van de Canadese ijswijn.

    Deze Reserve doet een ongelooflijke evenwichtsoefening in de mond, met gewicht en rijkdom, terwijl hij een levendig, zonnig karakter behoudt. Let op honingachtige tonen van perziken, pruimen en peren, met een opmerkelijke citrus bite en hints van kruiden op de lange afdronk. Icewine is echt een luxe ervaring en deze fles van Jackson-Triggs is een van de beste die verkrijgbaar is. Icewine kan net als gewone stille wijn worden gerijpt in een kelder die constant tussen de 12 en 18°C blijft. Overweeg deze wijn te combineren met romige kazen, fruitsalade of pittige Aziatische gerechten.
