Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Ricardo en Isabel Peña produceren hun bekroonde rode vlaggenschip van een van de beste wijngaarden in de Chileense Maipo Vallei, de Viña Quebrada de Macul. Deze 45 hectare grote wijngaard ligt in de uitlopers van de Andes, op ruige kiezelachtige hellingen en wordt gekoeld door briesjes uit de nabijgelegen bergen. De opbrengsten worden zeer laag gehouden om de kwaliteit te maximaliseren en de wijngaard wordt handmatig wijnstok voor wijnstok geoogst om optimale rijpheid te garanderen.

    Eenmaal in de wijnmakerij worden de Cabernet Sauvignon druiven gefermenteerd met natuurlijk voorkomende gisten en vervolgens gerijpt in Franse eikenhouten vaten gedurende 16-18 maanden. Vaak wordt ook een kleine hoeveelheid Petit Verdot, Merlot en Cabernet Franc toegevoegd om de schoonheid en complexiteit van de afgewerkte wijn te vergroten.

    De neus opent met intense tonen van cassis, zwarte kersen en donkere pruimen, samen met hints van bakkruid, tabaksblad en zoethout. In de mond is er een weelderige volle body, stevige tannines en een goed gebouwde structuur die deze wijn de komende tien jaar sierlijk zal doen verouderen. Deze Chileense wijn van wereldklasse krijgt regelmatig lovende kritieken van internationale topcritici, waarbij de jaargang 2015 een indrukwekkende 95 punten kreeg van Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
