Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Finca El Rapolao heeft een intrigerende kersenrode kleur, met vensters van zwart. De neus zit vol rijke mineralen en donkere aarde, en hints van koriander, dragon en zwarte peper die op de achtergrond sluimeren. Het is een blend op basis van Mencia uit de Bierzo regio in Spanje, met ook delen Alicante Bouschet en Sousón, een Portugese druif die gebruikt wordt bij de productie van port.

    Dominio de Anza wordt gerund door Diego Magana, de zoon van de Spaanse legende Raul Perez, die eigenaar is van het beroemde Navarrese wijnhuis Vina Magana. Dominio de Anza houdt het familie-erfgoed in ere, met een heerlijke, leeftijdsbestendige serie uitgesproken Spaanse rode wijnen. El Rapolao is afkomstig van één perceel van slechts een halve hectare groot - de wijngaard staat aangeplant op rode klei met een extreem hoog ijzergehalte.

    In de mond is dit een sterk minerale wijn, met bloederige ijzerrijke tonen, fascinerende hints van rood fruit, vegetatie en aanzienlijke rode kruiden. Qua textuur is hij mager en fris, met fijne fluweelachtige tannines. Het is een ander soort rode wijn, boordevol klei en zout - ideaal voor wie zijn horizon wil verbreden. Perfect om te combineren met Manchego kaas, gegrild vlees of stevige stoofschotels.
