    Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Het Castello di Romitorio werd oorspronkelijk gebouwd door de oude Romeinen en ligt dramatisch op een hoge heuvel naast het dorp Montalcino. In 1984 werd het gekocht door Giorgio Franchetti die het aan de beroemde neo-expressionistische Italiaanse kunstenaar Sandro Chia gaf in ruil voor enkele van zijn schilderijen. Chia vestigde zijn atelier in het kasteel, maar omarmde ook de revolutionaire wijnbouwbeweging die Montalcino in die tijd overspoelde.

    Heden ten dage is Chia's zoon Filippo sterk betrokken bij het wijnhuis, dat 15 hectare eersteklas wijngaarden heeft, voornamelijk geplant op kiezelachtige ijzer- en magnesiumrijke bodems. Deze prachtige botteling is gemaakt van fruit uit de buurt van het kasteel zelf en heet "Silk Thread" naar het beekje dat door het nabijgelegen bos stroomt. Het microklimaat is hier koeler dan in andere delen van Brunello di Montalcino, wat zorgt voor een wildere, intense expressie met veel hartig en aards karakter.

    De druiven worden vrij laat in het seizoen met de hand geoogst om optimale rijpheid te garanderen en worden gefermenteerd in hightech roestvrijstalen tanks met temperatuurregeling. De jonge wijn rijpt vervolgens 30 maanden op eikenhout, gevolgd door nog eens 12 maanden op vat. Het resultaat is een serieuze, gestructureerde wijn die barst van het donkere fruit, toetsen van viooltjes en ondertonen van bosgrond, leer en subtiele kruiden.

    Deze prachtige botteling is gemaakt van fruit dat vlakbij het kasteel van Castello di Romitorio is geoogst en is vernoemd naar het beekje dat door het nabijgelegen bos stroomt.
