Ik vind de beoordelingen van wijnen erg handig; ze helpen enorm bij het kiezen van een wijn! Bij mijn laatste aankoop van meer dan 400 euro raakte ik in de war door de wijn- en verzendkosten in mijn winkelmandje: de wijnprijs werd zonder btw weergegeven, maar er stonden wel verzendkosten bij die niet nul waren, zoals beloofd. Bij het afrekenen leek het ineens anders: er waren geen verzendkosten, maar wel btw. Een beetje misleidend.

Ik heb nog geen ervaring met deze winkel. Ik weet alleen dat ze UPS als vervoerder gebruiken en dat is niet bepaald geweldig! Ze laten niet weten rond welk tijdstip ze ongeveer aankomen! Je moet dus vrij nemen om ze niet te missen. Het is me al eens overkomen dat ik een pakketje voor de deur vond, terwijl ik thuis was! Het zou fijn zijn als de klant zelf de verzendmethode kan kiezen die hij wil en waarop hij kan vertrouwen. Ik wil de winkel echter niet in een kwaad daglicht stellen. Hun wijnen zijn, afhankelijk van het merk, uitstekend!

Valpolicella-wijnen

In de glooiende heuvels van het Valpolicella-gebied worden Valpolicella-wijnen in verschillende stijlen gemaakt van inheemse Corvina-, Corvinone-, Rondinella- en Molinara-druiven. Ze variëren van heldere, gemakkelijk drinkbare rode wijnen tot serieus zoete Recioto dessertwijnen.

Hoe Valpolicella wordt gemaakt

Standaard Valpolicella wijnen worden gemaakt van Corvina en Rondinella met vaak wat Molinara en Corvinone in de blend. Ze zijn over het algemeen vrij licht en elegant, met heerlijke rode kersentonen en veel frisheid. De Valpolicella Ripasso wijnen zijn de volgende stap en worden vergist op de druivenschillen die al gebruikt zijn om Amarone te maken. Dit geeft de wijn veel karakter, complexiteit en rijk gedroogd fruit. Er zijn ook de zoete Valpolicella Recioto en Valpolicella Superiore, gemaakt van in de winter gedroogde druiven.

Culinaire combinaties van Valpolicella

De grote verscheidenheid aan Valpolicella wijnen maakt ze zeer veelzijdig als het gaat om het combineren met gerechten. De standaard Valpolicella past goed bij zaken als gezouten vlees, harde kazen en pasta's op basis van tomaten, terwijl de Ripasso wijnen meer diepte hebben voor rijkere gerechten als gestoofd rundvlees, ribbetjes of geroosterd varkensvlees. Recioto zoete wijnen zijn uitstekend om van te genieten bij het dessert of als begeleider van desserts met chocolade, gedroogd fruit of donkere bessen.
