    Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Roger Sabon, opgericht in 1952, is een familiebedrijf dat vandaag de dag wordt geleid door Roger's zonen, Denis en Gilbert, terwijl de rol van wijnmaker wordt vervuld door zijn zwager Didier Negron. In de loop der jaren is het bedrijf gegroeid en vandaag de dag strekt het zich uit over 30 hectare wijngaarden verdeeld over de AOC's Châteauneuf du Pape, Lirac en Côtes-du-Rhône, waar Grenache altijd een ereplaats inneemt. Het hele assortiment geproduceerde wijnen vertoont een grote elegantie en een uitstekend rijpingspotentieel.

    Roger Sabons Châteauneuf du Pape Reserve is voornamelijk een Grenache blend, met toevoegingen van Syrah en Mourvèdre. De druiven, afkomstig van percelen met klei-kalksteen, worden handmatig geoogst en na de gisting rijpt de wijn 18 maanden in eikenhouten vaten.

    De wijn heeft een diepe en briljante kleur met robijnrode tinten. In de neus onthult hij een complex aromatisch profiel met fruitige en kruidige tonen, hints van chocolade, kruiden en kreupelhout. In de mond is het een gedurfde wijn met veel karakter. Hij is diep, warm en vol van smaak met zijdezachte tannines en een evenwichtige zuurgraad. De afdronk is zacht en lang. Het is een krachtige en uiterst elegante wijn. Probeer hem bij gebraden rund- of lamsvlees en bij rijpe kazen.
