    Het ontstaan van de coöperatie Produttori del Barbaresco gaat terug tot het eind van de 19e eeuw, met als doel de bijzondere eigenschappen die de Nebbiolo in dit specifieke gebied van Piemonte heeft, te versterken. Vandaag de dag telt Produttori del Barbaresco ongeveer vijftig leden en beslaat 110 hectare wijngaarden beplant met Nebbiolo. In de grote wijnjaren worden 9 Barbarescos geproduceerd van specifieke wijngaarden en op de markt gebracht als Barbaresco Riserva: Asili, Rabajà, Rio Sordo, Ovello, Montestefano, Pajé, Muncagota, Montefico en Pora, gebieden die altijd bekend hebben gestaan om de productie van druiven van bijzondere waarde.

    Barbaresco Muncagota wordt gemaakt van 100% Nebbiolo druiven, afkomstig van wijngaarden met zuidoostelijke ligging op klei-kalkachtige bodem. De gisting vindt plaats in staal bij 30° C en de wijn macereert 28 dagen op de schillen. Daarna rijpt hij 36 maanden in eikenhouten vaten en 12 maanden in de fles.

    Het is een complexe en volle wijn. De neus vertoont een grote aromaticiteit, met intense fruitige en bloemige aroma's. In de mond is de wijn zeer elegant en evenwichtig met harmonieuze tannines en een minerale afdronk. Hij past goed bij pasta en risotto, rood vlees en wild.
