    Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Het Gaia wijnhuis, 30 jaar geleden opgericht door Leon Karatsalos en Yiannis Paraskevopoulos, maakt uitstekende Griekse wijnen in Santorini en Nemea, twee van de meest prestigieuze wijngebieden van het land. In Nemea zijn de wijngaarden voornamelijk beplant met de lokale rode druif Agiorgitiko en liggen ze op een hoogte van ongeveer 850 meter waar een relatief koel klimaat heerst. In Santorini is de belangrijkste druivensoort echter Assyrtiko, die het best tot zijn recht komt op de vulkanische bodems van het eiland.

    Thalassitis is een monovariëtale wijn op basis van de inheemse Assyrtiko wijnstok. De druiven zijn afkomstig van wijngaarden in de regio's Episkopi, Akrotiri en Pyrgos op het eiland Santorini. De gisting en rijping vinden plaats in staal om het natuurlijke frisse karakter van de druiven te behouden en te versterken.

    Het resultaat is een levendige wijn met veel persoonlijkheid, met een strogele kleur en gouden reflecties. De neus is uitbundig en breed met tonen van kamperfoelie en vers citrusfruit. In de mond is hij droog met een sterke minerale ader en een goede body. Hij is elegant en heeft een lange, verfrissende afdronk. Probeer het bij zeevruchten, schelpdieren en traditionele Griekse recepten met feta.
