    De Volnay Premier Cru begint met een licht reducerende neus van zure kersen, sinaasappelschil, cranberry, rozenblaadjes en geroosterde noten. De Pinot Noir druiven werden geoogst van de Santenots du Milieu wijngaard, een perceel van 4 hectare in de Cote de Beaune, gedefinieerd door zijn ondiepe kalksteenrijke bodem.

    Domaine des Comtes Lafon is al sinds 1865 de trots van de familie Lafon. Het domein zelf ligt in de appellatie Meursault, maar de wijngaarden beslaan 14 hectare, verspreid over de mythische regio's Chassagne-Montrachet, Monthélie en natuurlijk Volnay. Tegenwoordig is het eigendom van de vijfde generatie Lafons, Léa en Pierre, die in 2021 de leiding kregen van Dominique.

    In de mond vertoont de Santenots du Milieu een intense kern van zure kersen en frambozenfruit, opgetild op de schouders van stevige tannines en strakke zuren. Naarmate de wijn zich ontwikkelt, ontdek je tonen van warme aarde, rook en gedroogde Provençaalse kruiden. Het is een medium tot volle wijn, perfect voor wie op zoek is naar een Pinot Noir van topkwaliteit met wat vlees. Denk aan een combinatie met champignonburgers, stoofpot van rundvlees of een belegen kaas.
