David and Nadia met and fell in love while studying viticulture, so it was only natural that they would get married and later start their very own winery. Their unique project is based on a farm in Paardebosch in Swartland which they lease from the owners. The young couple have fast been making a name for themselves with their impressive Grenache and Chenin Blanc wines, like this excellent example crafted from old vines.

Most of the fruit is estate-grown on granitic and shale soils as well as some fruit from iron and clay-rich soils which help give plenty of intensity and complexity. Many of these vines are dry farmed bush vines which tend to produce a small quantity of very concentrated, rich fruit. Once in the winery the fruit is then whole bunch pressed, fermented using wild yeasts, and then matured in old French oak barrels and neutral concrete tanks for 11 months.

Using neutral vessels like these to mature the wine helps to show off the natural beauty of the grapes and terroir, as well as preserving plenty of freshness and delicate aromatics. Expect plenty of white blossom like jasmine and honeysuckle on the nose as well as ripe peaches, apricots, and toasted nuts. A great wine to enjoy now or cellar for a couple more years.
