A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    Na jaren in de familiewijnmakerij te hebben gewerkt, besloot François Chidaine in 1989 voor zichzelf te beginnen en richtte hij zijn domein op in Montlouis-sur-Loire, in het hart van de Touraine. In 1992 begon hij zijn domein om te schakelen naar biologische praktijken en in 1999 schakelde hij over op biodynamische. Vandaag de dag strekt het landgoed zich uit over 45 hectare, verdeeld over talloze kleine percelen, waar Chenin Blanc de meest verbouwde druivensoort is.

    De Chenin Blanc druiven (lokaal Pineau de Loire genoemd) zijn afkomstig van wijnstokken tussen de 30 en 90 jaar oud, gelegen in de appellation Montlouis-sur-Loire op kalkhoudende kleigrond, rijk aan silex en tufsteen. De oogst gebeurt handmatig en in verschillende fasen om een perfecte rijping te garanderen. De most fermenteert met inheemse gisten in demi-muids van 620 liter. De wijn rijpt vervolgens 6-8 maanden op de droesem.

    Francois Chidaine Montlouis Les Choisilles heeft een heldere strogele kleur. In de neus onthult hij een fruitig aromatisch profiel met tonen van witte perzik en bloemen, gevolgd door wat minerale hints. In de mond is hij elegant en delicaat, fris en evenwichtig. De afdronk is aangenaam mineraal. Probeer hem als aperitief, bij gebakken zeebaars, garnalen of geitenkaas.
