Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Het eerbiedwaardige wijnhuis Colome, opgericht in 1831, is een van de beste Argentijnse producenten van hooggelegen Malbec-wijnen. Het werd door Tim Atkin MW gekozen als "First Growth" in zijn 2020 Argentina Report. Het landgoed ligt in de Calchaquí valleien in de provincie Salta, waar de droge, woestijnachtige omstandigheden en de hoogte helpen om intense en krachtige rode wijnen te produceren met een mooie balans tussen complexiteit, weelderige fruitsmaken en elegantie.

    Deze charmante expressie is een single vineyard wijn van Colome's "Altura Maxima" of "Maximale Hoogte" perceel dat ligt in de Upper Calchaquí Valleys op 3100 meter boven zeeniveau. De zeer hoge ligging creëert hier unieke wijnbouwomstandigheden dankzij de grotere blootstelling aan UV en de koelere temperatuur tijdens de hete zomermaanden. Dit helpt om perfect rijpe druiven te produceren met veel aromatische complexiteit en rijpe tannines.

    Na de vinificatie rijpt de jonge wijn 24 maanden in gebruikte Franse eikenhouten vaten voordat hij wordt gebotteld. Het resultaat is een weelderige, donkerfruitige rode wijn die barst van de cassis, braam en donkere kersen in de neus, samen met hints van kruiden, leer en rijke chocolade. Een prachtige fles om nog een tiental jaren te bewaren, maar hij kan ook nu gedronken worden naast een ribeye steak en frietjes.
