Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Deze op de Rhône geïnspireerde rode blend van Burrowing Owl barst van de rijpe aroma's van braam, bosbes, pruim en zoethout, met dierlijke achtergrondtonen van gerookt vlees. Naarmate de wijn opener wordt, kun je ook wat hints van vanille en zwarte peper ontdekken, wat het bouquet afrondt. Hoewel Syrah hier de dominante druif is en 97% van de blend uitmaakt, hebben de producenten ook een klein beetje Viognier toegevoegd.

    Burrowing Owl Estate Winery ligt net binnen de Canadese grens, waar het droge steppe-terroir dat het grootste deel van de beste wijngaardlocaties van de staat Washington bedekt, begint uit te sterven. Het werd in 1997 opgericht door Jim Wyse en is uitgegroeid tot een van Canada's meest gerenommeerde wijnmakerijen, met gouden medailles op de Mundus Vini Spring Tastings en de WineAlign National Wine Awards of Canada.

    Deze prachtige rode wijn is een perfect startpunt voor wie de onderschatte wereld van Canadese wijn wil verkennen. Hij is vol en fluweelzacht in de mond, met een stevige tanninestructuur en verfrissende zuren. In de mond verschijnen jamachtige tonen van zwart en blauw haagfruit, vermengd met salie, tijm, kruiden en subtiele hints van kokos. Een bundel gedroogde kruiden blijft in de mond hangen tijdens de lange afdronk. Combineer deze rode wijn met een mals stuk kruidig lamsvlees, een stevige paddenstoelenburger of gegrilde aubergine.
