UPS was verschrikkelijk. Eerst gaven ze de verwachte bezorgdatum door, en daarna lieten ze mijn vrouw de hele dag wachten, om uiteindelijk zonder enige waarschuwing (!) niet te bezorgen. Pas de volgende ochtend lieten ze weten dat de verwachte bezorgdatum was gewijzigd (!) en deze keer ging het wel goed. De hele dag verspild, geen mogelijkheid om de koerier te bellen. Vreselijke ervaring! Arrogante klootzakken.

Amarone wijnen

De beroemde rode Amarone della Valpolicella wijnen worden in de glooiende heuvels van de Valpolicella streek gemaakt van de inheemse druivenrassen Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella en Molinara.Deze rassen worden gemengd tot een zeer krachtige rode wijn met gematigde tannines en een hoog alcoholgehalte. Typische Amarone smaken en aroma's zijn kersenlikeur, gedroogde vijgen, sultana's, pure chocolade en tonen van grafiet.

Hoe Amarone wordt gemaakt

Amarone wijnen moeten worden gemaakt volgens de traditionele appassimento methode waarbij de druiven in de winter worden gedroogd en tot sultana's worden verwerkt voordat ze gaan gisten. Hierdoor worden de aroma's en suikers van de druiven geconcentreerd. De wijn moet vervolgens twee jaar rijpen voordat hij kan worden gebotteld.

Amarone Food Pairings

Dankzij dit complexe wijnbereidingsproces zijn Amarone wijnen krachtig en intens met veel weelderige zwarte fruitsmaken. Veel wijnen kunnen tientallen jaren rijpen, maar als je besluit een jonge Amarone te drinken, probeer hem dan te combineren met stevige gerechten als wild zwijn, hert, winterstoofpotten, steaks of gestoofde ribbetjes. Het rijpe, fruitige karakter van Amarone gaat ook goed samen met coq au vin, oude harde kazen en pure chocolade.
