Een enorm assortiment aan allerlei soorten wijn, tegen goede prijzen en met snelle bediening!

Over het algemeen heb ik een positieve ervaring gehad; ze hebben een breed assortiment aan wijnen, waarvan sommige nergens anders te vinden zijn – de belangrijkste reden waarom ik nog steeds bij hen koop. Bovendien zijn de kortingen redelijk en worden ze vaak aangeboden, maar... hun kortingscodes voor de eerste aanbieding werken alleen bij die eerste aanbieding, wat op zich prima is, maar waarom sturen ze me dan in elk pakket dat ik bestel zo’n kortingsbon, waarom spammen ze me via e-mail en elke keer als ik inlog op de website? Dit stoort me echt... Daarnaast is hun spaarpuntensysteem nutteloos. Ten eerste krijg je maar een schijntje, zelfs als je € 250 aan een bestelling uitgeeft, maar zelfs dat schijntje vervalt als je niet snel weer bestelt, wat op zijn zachtst gezegd oneerlijk is... en tot slot: als je een wijn met kurksmaak krijgt, een wijn met een ander defect of een wijn die gelekt heeft (mijn laatste bestelling bevatte een fles Caymus Cabernet van $100 met een lekkende kurk, waardoor de wijn gekookt en plat smaakte), dan hebben ze geen enkele procedure om de wijn te vervangen of terug te sturen, of om een terugbetaling of vervanging te krijgen – helemaal niets, wat een grote no-no-no is voor elke wijnverzamelaar... Dus al met al geef ik het voorlopig 3 sterren

Zoete wijnen

De gemakkelijkste manier om een zoete wijn te maken is door de druiven laat in het jaar te oogsten, wanneer ze een hoog suikergehalte hebben bereikt. Veel van 's werelds beroemdste zoete wijnen zijn gemaakt van edelrot, een soort schimmel die de druiven verwelkt en de aroma's en zoetheid intensiveert. Het is ook gebruikelijk zoete wijnen te verrijken door extra alcohol toe te voegen in de vorm van brandewijn of een andere alcohol afkomstig van de druif. Zoete wijnen zijn er in verschillende stijlen en smaakprofielen, waardoor ze ideaal zijn om te drinken aan het eind van een maaltijd of als meditatiewijn.

Belangrijke zoete wijnstreken

Zoete wijnen worden overal ter wereld gemaakt, maar de bekendste voorbeelden zijn Sauternes uit Frankrijk en Tokaji uit Hongarije, waar je zoete wijn van de hoogste kwaliteit kunt kopen. Sauternes is een kleine streek bij Bordeaux, gelegen tussen twee rivieren die ideale omstandigheden scheppen voor edelrot. De druiven voor de Tokaji wijnen worden verbouwd op een klein plateau in de beschutting van de Karpaten, waar ook edelrot veel voorkomt. Andere belangrijke zoete wijngebieden zijn de Dourovallei in Portugal voor zoete portwijnen, zoete sherry uit Jerez in Zuid-Spanje en ijswijn van bevroren druiven in Canada en Duitsland.

Zoete wijnsoorten

Zoete wijnen kunnen van bijna elke druivensoort gemaakt worden. Sauternes wordt gemaakt van Semillon en Sauvignon Blanc, terwijl Furmint wordt gebruikt voor Tokaji. In Canada worden ijswijnen vaak gemaakt van het winterharde hybride ras Vidal, dat bestand is tegen vriestemperaturen. Andere populaire druivenrassen voor zoete rode wijn en zoete witte wijn zijn muscat, chenin blanc, riesling en vouvray.
