    Drink hem nu of bewaar hem tot 15 jaar in een kelder. Het is niet nodig om te decanteren, maar het is het beste om hem een half uur voor het serveren te openen.

    Ontstaan in 2002 door David Clarke en zijn vrouw Cheryl (née Thorn), vertegenwoordigt Thorn Clarke Winery de vereniging van twee historische Barossa Valley families. In feite waren de families van David en Cheryl allebei pioniers in deze regio van Zuid-Australië. Het echtpaar kocht hun eerste wijngaarden in 1987 en produceerde ongeveer 15 jaar lang druiven voor andere wijnhuizen. Gezien hun succes besloten ze toen meer land te kopen in de Barossa Valley en Eden Valley en hun eigen wijngaard te openen.

    De wijn is vernoemd naar William Randell, een van de voorouders van de familie, die in 1837 naar Australië emigreerde. De 100% Shiraz druiven zijn uitsluitend afkomstig van zijn eigen wijngaarden. De druiven van de verschillende percelen worden apart gevinifieerd en gerijpt en pas voor het bottelen samengevoegd. Alleen de beste vaten van de beste percelen worden gebruikt voor de uiteindelijke blend. De wijn wordt alleen in uitzonderlijke jaren geproduceerd.

    William Randell Shiraz heeft een dieprode kleur met paarse accenten. De wijn is in klassieke Barossa-stijl en heeft in de neus een rijk boeket van rood fruit, bramen, zoethout, kruidige pruimen en rokerige tonen. In de mond is hij diep en dicht met tonen van bramen en bessencompote. De tannines zijn smakelijk en rond met een zeer aangename en verfijnde kruidige afdronk. Drink het bij lamsvlees.
