    De Pecorino druif, die buiten zijn thuisland nog steeds weinig bekend is, wordt al eeuwenlang geteeld in de centraal Italiaanse regio's Marche en Abruzzo. De druif was in de jaren tachtig bijna met uitsterven bedreigd, maar gelukkig zijn er enkele wijnstokken gevonden die in het wild groeiden en lokale producenten zijn erin geslaagd de Pecorino in zijn traditionele kerngebieden te herintroduceren.

    San Lorenzo werd opgericht in 1890 en is nu in de bekwame handen van Natalino Crognaletti, die de derde generatie van de familie is die op het landgoed wijn maakt. Natalino bewerkt de 150 hectare van de familie volgens biologische en biodynamische principes om de allerbeste grondstoffen te produceren.

    Natalino's Il Pecorino wordt gevinifieerd in roestvrijstalen tanks om de frisheid en het pure raskarakter van de druif te behouden. In de neus zijn er opwekkende aroma's van citroenschil, kamperfoelie en witte perzik, terwijl de eerste slok een tongstrelende frisheid onthult, een lichte body en smaken van steenfruit en citrusvruchten die op de tong blijven hangen. De levendigheid van deze wijn maakt hem een uitstekende keuze voor een zomers aperitief of om te serveren bij verse zeevruchten, een geurige Bouillabaisse of pittige Aziatische salades en curry's.
