    Gelegen in het Zuid-Afrikaanse wijngebied Swartland, werd Porseleinberg cellar in 2009 opgericht door Marc Kent, wijnmaker bij wijnhuis Boekenhoutskloof, die met hulp van oenoloog Callie Louw het landgoed herplantte met Syrah en Grenache druiven. Beginnend op 40 hectare, strekt het bedrijf, waarvan de naam is afgeleid van de Porselein bergen, zich nu uit over 130 hectare, waarvan het grootste deel wordt verbouwd met Syrah.

    Het label Porseleinberg produceert één Syrah-wijn, gemaakt van een mengsel van druiven van de beste percelen van de eigen wijngaarden. De wijnstokken zijn geplant op leisteengrond met beperkte waterbronnen. De oogst is handmatig en de gisting vindt plaats in betonnen tanks. De wijn rijpt vervolgens 12 maanden in grand foudres en betonnen eieren.

    De Porseleinberg wijn heeft een intense robijnrode kleur. De neus onthult elegante aroma's van kersen, bosbessen en wilde bessen, gevolgd door tonen van rozenblaadjes en viooltjes, kruiden en specerijen. In de mond is hij sappig en geconcentreerd, levendig en elegant. De tannines zijn fluweelzacht en de afdronk is aanhoudend en herinnert aan kruidige tonen. Hij is ideaal bij lamsvlees, gebraden of gekruid met kruiden, en bij vegetarische recepten op basis van aubergines.
