Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Opgericht in 1998 door Thomas Rivers Brown, ligt Outpost op enkele van de beste wijngebieden in Napa Valley. Het wijnhuis maakt een gedurfde reeks Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Petit Sirah en Zinfandel wijnen, allemaal afkomstig van de eigen 28-acre wijngaard.

    Er zijn veel stereotypen in de wijnwereld, maar weinig zijn zo hardnekkig als het beeld van Californische Zinfandel als een ruige, bergachtige wijn. Outpost speelt met dat beeld en opereert op de ideale locatie om dat te doen. Howell Mountain is een schilderachtig, ruig, West-Amerikaans landschap, met harde rotsachtige bodems, wijngaarden op grote hoogte en blootstelling aan de zon in het westen - allemaal ingrediënten voor stellaire rode wijn.

    Deze wijn is gemaakt van 100% Zinfandel, 16 maanden gerijpt in Franse eiken vaten. Hij vertoont een rijk, jamachtig bouquet van pruimen, bosbessen, haagbessen en gekonfijte sinaasappelschil, onderstreept door kruiden. In de mond kun je je tanden erin zetten, rijk en taai met een heerlijk zuivere expressie van jamfruit. Let op tonen van rozijnen, frambozen, bosbessen, kreupelhoutkruiden, Aziatische kruiden en gedroogde bloemen. Dit is een grote, rustieke en bijzonder krachtige wijn, vol met het karakter van het Wilde Westen. Overweeg hem te combineren met gegrild vlees, stoofschotels of vleeswaren.
