    Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    In de buurt van het charmante stadje La Morra op een heuveltop gelegen, werd het Mauro Molino landgoed in 1953 opgericht door Mauro's vader. Tegenwoordig wordt het wijnhuis gerund door Mauro en zijn twee kinderen, Matteo en Martina, die beiden besloten zich bij hem aan te sluiten in het familiebedrijf na het behalen van hun diploma enologie. De Molinos bewerken 12 hectare grond in en rond La Morra die voornamelijk beplant zijn met de klassieke rode rassen van de regio: Nebbiolo, Barbera en Dolcetto.

    Mauro Molino's sublieme Barolo DOCG wordt gemaakt van eersteklas Nebbiolo druiven die in oktober met de hand worden geoogst van de wijngaarden van het landgoed in La Morra en het nabijgelegen Monforte. Vervolgens laat de familie de druivenmost met de schillen 12 dagen weken om optimale hoeveelheden smaak, kleur en tannines te extraheren. De volgende stap in het proces is de gisting van de most in roestvrijstalen tanks voordat de wijn 18 maanden in Franse eikenhouten vaten rijpt.

    Barolo's hebben de reputatie vele jaren te moeten rijpen voordat ze op dronk zijn, maar Mauro Molino is erin geslaagd een wijn te maken die zowel toegankelijk is in zijn jeugd als geschikt is om langer te bewaren. Als je ervoor kiest deze fles nu te drinken, probeer de wijn dan minstens twee uur voor het serveren te decanteren, zodat de wijn zich volledig kan openen. Je wordt beloond met verleidelijke aroma's en smaken van rijpe kersen, rozenblaadjes en rokerig zoet eikenhout, vergezeld van stevige tannines, een volle body en een opmerkelijk lange afdronk.
