Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    De familie Matetic arriveerde in 1892 vanuit hun Kroatische thuisland in Chili en vestigde aanvankelijk een schapenboerderij in Punta Arenas. In 1999 besloten ze een nieuw hoofdstuk in hun familiegeschiedenis te beginnen door een wijnmakerij te openen in de El Rosario Vallei in San Antonio. Deze koelklimaat-Syrah wordt gemaakt met druiven van hun eigen wijngaarden in de vallei, die geplant zijn op granietgrond en grotendeels droog worden verbouwd zonder gebruik te maken van irrigatie.

    Deze groeiomstandigheden helpen om intens smakend fruit te produceren met een perfecte balans dankzij de verkoelende bries van de nabijgelegen Stille Oceaan. In de wijnmakerij fermenteert de familie met behulp van wilde gisten die van nature in de lucht en op de schillen van de druiven voorkomen. De jonge wijn wordt vervolgens overgebracht naar Franse eikenhouten vaten voor maximaal 22 maanden voordat hij wordt gebotteld.

    Mooie donkere kersen, cassis en gebakken pruimen samen met hints van zwarte peper en zoethout bepalen de neus, terwijl in de mond een goed afgeronde textuur, robuuste volle body en zeer lange afdronk te vinden zijn. De kracht en intensiteit van deze wijn maken het een uitstekende keuze om nog een paar jaar in de kelder te bewaren of om nu te drinken bij rijke rode vleesgerechten zoals lamsvlees, biefstuk of zelfs gebarbecuede ribbetjes.
    Toevoegen om te vergelijken
    Deze koelklimaat-Syrah wordt gemaakt met druiven van hun eigen wijngaarden in de vallei, die geplant zijn op granietgrond en grotendeels droog worden verbouwd zonder gebruik te maken van irrigatie.
