Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    El Enemigo werd in 2009 opgericht door historica Adrianna Catena, de jongste dochter van de legendarische Argentijnse wijnmaker Nicolas Catena, en de chef-wijnmaker van Catena Zapata, Alejandro Vigil. De twee vrienden werden geïnspireerd om samen een wijnlabel te creëren dat zowel de jeugdige Argentijnse wijnbouwcultuur als het rijke wijnbouwerfgoed van Europa zou vieren.

    Om deze majestueuze Gran Enemigo cuvee te creëren, put Alejandro uit zijn rijke wijnbouwervaring en druiven van topkwaliteit die afkomstig zijn van één enkele wijngaard in de gewaardeerde Mendoza-subregio Tupungato. De wijngaard ligt aan de voet van het machtige Andesgebergte en wordt geïrrigeerd door gesmolten sneeuw die van de toppen naar beneden stroomt. Gelegen op een hoogte tot 1400 meter boven zeeniveau is deze locatie perfect voor de productie van deze eersteklas Cabernet Franc dankzij de zonnige dagen met veel UV-licht en koelere nachten die de frisheid helpen bewaren.

    De kwaliteit van deze bijzondere wijn is al erkend door Robert Parker die hem een bijna perfecte score van 99 punten gaf. De druiven worden zorgvuldig met de hand geoogst tijdens 4 doorgangen door de wijngaard om een perfecte rijpheid te garanderen, waarna een lange en langzame gisting en maceratie in het vat plaatsvinden. Het eindresultaat is een krachtige wijn die doet denken aan de beste Pomerols met ruime tonen van cassis, geplette wilde bessen, leer en kruiden uit de rijping op vat.
