Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Deze donkere en knappe Amarone wordt gemaakt door Cantina Valpolicella Negrar, die in 1933 werd opgericht. De Cantina werd aanvankelijk gevormd door zeven families die druiven verbouwen en telt nu meer dan 200 leden. De allereerste Amarone werd hier in 1939 gebotteld en het wijnhuis produceert nog steeds toonaangevende voorbeelden, waarbij traditionele technieken worden gebruikt naast geavanceerde technologie en expertise.

    Het Domini Veneti label wordt alleen gegeven aan de beste wijnen, zoals dit voorbeeld, dat is gemaakt van uitstekende wijngaarden op de Jago heuvels in het traditionele hart van Valpolicella. Het belangrijkste ingrediënt is Corvina samen met een kleiner aandeel Corvinone en Rondinella en enkele andere lokale variëteiten. De druiven worden met de hand geoogst en drogen tot 120 dagen op matten om de suikers en smaken te concentreren. Aan het eind van het jaar worden ze gevinifieerd en 24 maanden gerijpt in Franse eiken vaten, gevolgd door nog eens 12 maanden rijping in de fles.

    Het eerste wat je opvalt is de donkerrode kleur en de verleidelijke hints van vanille, sigarenkistjes, tabak en rijk gedroogd fruit. In de mond zijn er ruime gladde tannines, een stevige structuur en een zeer lange afdronk met intense donkere bessen en kruidige tonen.
