    Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Noemd naar de ruige Black Sage Bench in het wijngebied Okanagan Valley waar het wijnhuis is gevestigd, werd dit opkomende Canadese wijnhuis in 1992 opgericht door Harry McWatters en Bob Wareham. Als eigenaars van de nabijgelegen Sumac Ridge Estate Winery zagen Harry en Bob het potentieel van dit in onbruik geraakte land, dat lange tijd alleen geschikt werd geacht voor het houden van vee. Ze begonnen hier stekken van Franse rassen te planten en ontdekten al snel dat het terroir ideaal is voor het maken van rijke en intense rode wijnen.

    Deze krachtige Cabernet Sauvignon is gemaakt van eigen fruit uit de Black Sage Vineyard en wordt eind oktober bij optimale rijpheid geoogst. Eenmaal in de wijnmakerij worden de druiven vergist in roestvrijstalen open tanks en de jonge wijn wordt vervolgens overgebracht naar Franse en Amerikaanse eikenhouten vaten om 16 maanden te rijpen.

    Dankzij het droge, zonnige klimaat en de relatief koele nachten is dit een intense maar evenwichtige rode wijn met ruime tonen van donkere bessen en pruimen, samen met frisheid en soepele tannines. De krachtige fruitsmaken worden aangevuld met hints van specerijen, gerookt vlees en gedroogde kruiden en een royale volle body en lange afdronk, waardoor hij ideaal past bij rood vlees, barbecues en stevige stoofschotels.
