    Barbale Winery is een relatief jong bedrijf gevestigd in een van de oudste wijnproducerende gebieden van Georgië. Het produceert biologische wijnen onder leiding van de oenoloog Berdia Berishvili, van inheemse druiven uit de subregio's Kartli en Kakheti. Het werd opgericht in 2016 en kreeg zijn naam ter ere van een Georgische godin die staat voor vruchtbaarheid.

    Shavkapito is een zeldzame inheemse druivensoort uit Oost-Georgië, meer bepaald uit de Kartli-regio, die vergelijkbare kenmerken vertoont als de meer gangbare Saperavi, maar met een dunner profiel en een iets lichtere body. De druiven voor deze Exceptional Harvest wijn zijn biologisch geteeld en komen uit het deelgebied Shida Kartli rond het historische dorp Mejvriskhevi.

    Het aromapalet is rijk aan tonen van rijpe zwarte kers, vervolgens zwarte bessenjam, pruim, kersentaart, zoete specerijen en houtrooktonen. In de mond komen alle smaken van wilde bessen samen met elegante en fluwelen tannines en een volle body. De zuurgraad is gematigd en perfect geïntegreerd, en de kruidige afdronk is lang en aangenaam. Over het geheel genomen is de wijn uiterst betaalbaar en eetvriendelijk. Hij doet het heerlijk bij gegrild vlees en geroosterd varkensvlees.
