Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Gelegen in Wilyabrup is Woodlands een van de oudste en populairste wijnmakerijen in de Margaret River wijnregio, in West-Australië. Het werd in het begin van de jaren 1970 opgericht door David en Heather Warson en is nog steeds een familiebedrijf dat bekroonde en commercieel geprezen wijnen produceert van zijn 10 hectare wijngaarden. Het wijnhuis richt zich op Bordeaux variëteiten en wordt nu gerund door de zonen van David en Heather, Andrew en Stuart.

    De Woodlands Cabernet Franc en Merlot blend wordt sinds 2008 geproduceerd met druiven uit de Wilyabrup Valley. De blend wordt gemaakt met gelijke delen van de twee druivensoorten. Na de vinificatie rijpt de wijn ongeveer 15 maanden in Franse eiken vaten.

    De wijn heeft een heldere en dichte kleur met karmozijnrode tonen en een rijp en breed aromatisch profiel met tonen van bosbes, braam en cassis, gevolgd door aardse accenten, zwarte olijven en cederhout. In de mond komt de zachtheid van de Merlot naar voren, gecombineerd met de frisheid van de Cabernet Franc. Hij heeft een medium volle body en een goede fruitconcentratie. De tannines zijn stevig en goed geïntegreerd en de afdronk is lang en licht kruidig. Probeer hem eens bij pepperoni pizza, aubergine parmigiana of pasta met Italiaanse worst.
