Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Deze 100% Pinotage wijn barst van de aroma's van pruimen, rode kersen, karamel en bramen. De druiven hebben een diepe scharlakenrode kleur in het glas en zijn geoogst op de boerderij van DB Rust in Constantia, een veelgeprezen Zuid-Afrikaans wijngebied net buiten Kaapstad.

    Survivor is een label van Overhex, een wijnproductiebedrijf in familiebezit. De afgelopen tien jaar werd Survivor geleid door Ben Snyman, een inwoner van de Kaap met ervaring in Californië en, wat nog belangrijker is, een gepassioneerde chef-kok. Zijn liefde voor wijn groeide samen met zijn liefde voor eten, wat misschien verklaart waarom het Survivor assortiment zo eetvriendelijk en toegankelijk is.

    In de mond zit deze Pinotage vol met hartige, umami tonen - pruimen, cassis, zwarte peper, koffie, chocolade en kaneel zijn allemaal aanwezig, en worden ondersteund door een stevige ader van eikenhout. De wijn werd gerijpt in Franse eiken vaten en onderging een medium toasting. De dieprode kleur van de wijn weerspiegelt de kleur van de grond in Constantia, die elk glas een rijke, fluweelachtige textuur geeft. Dit is een uitstekend voorbeeld van de favoriete druif van Zuid-Afrika. Combineer hem met pepersteak, gebarbecued vlees of een bord gerijpte cheddar.
