Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    Illumina is een krachtige rode blend, met weelderige geuren van bramenjam, donkere kersen, vanille, koffie en warme cacao. Hij is gemaakt van 67,5% Syrah en 32,5% Zinfandel, verbouwd in de Okanagan Valley regio in Canada. De druiven werden vlak voor de eerste vorst van het jaar geplukt, wat zorgde voor maximale rijpheid en een troostend karakter, boordevol jamfruit.

    Sunrock Vineyards is het kroonjuweel van de Okanagan Valley, opgericht in 1999 en gelegen op de top van een glooiende granieten klif met zandgrond. Het is hoofdwijnmaker Dane Carson die van het topfruit dat hier groeit een prachtige reeks Canadese wijnen maakt. Dane werkte eerder voor de ijskrachtcentrale Inniskillen en Jackson-Triggs en wordt in zijn rol ondersteund door de gerenommeerde wijnbouwer Troy Osborne.

    Deze Syrah-Zinfandel blend rijpte 16 maanden in Franse en Amerikaanse eikenhouten vaten voordat hij werd uitgebracht, wat een rokerig, eikenachtig aspect heeft gegeven. Sappig zwart en rood fruit voeren echter de boventoon. Je vindt tonen van braam, framboos en rijpe donkere kers, aangevuld met heerlijke hints van kaneel en vanille. Het is een heerlijk zachte drinkervaring, met fijnkorrelige tannines en sappige zuren. Overweeg om Illumina te combineren met gebarbecued vlees, lamsvlees of een saus op basis van fruit.
