Adelheid and Roman Pfaffl and their children, Roman Josef Pfaffl and Heidemarie Fischer, are one of Austria’s top winemaking families. Their estate in southern Weinviertel has over 90 hectares of prime vines spread across the region which allow them to make a diverse range of wines primarily from local grape varieties.

The family is especially proud of this crisp and elegant dry Riesling which is sourced from 25 year old vines planted on rocky terraces. Conditions here are well-suited to the Riesling variety thanks to the meagre soils and dry and warm microclimate. The grapes are harvested at the end of October at optimal maturity and the must is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the pure varietal character.

On the nose there is a smoky minerality, bright citrus zest, and ripe peach while the first sip reveals a light body, bright acidity, and well-rounded texture. The finish is pure and clean with ample tropical fruit flavours and a mouthwatering freshness. The vibrant flavour profile makes it a great match for seafood, fish and creamy cheeses, or it can also be enjoyed as a refreshing aperitif on a warm summer’s evening.
