Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Op het idyllische Nieuw-Zeelandse eiland Waiheke heeft het wijnhuis Man O' War 150 hectare wijngaarden verspreid over het eiland in een afgelegen omgeving met uitzicht op de oceaan. Valhalla is de gouden hal uit de Noorse mythologie waar Vikinghelden na hun dood naartoe gaan om voor eeuwig met de goden te feesten, en het is ook de naam die Man O' War geeft aan zijn allerbeste vaten Chardonnay.

    Om deze wijn te maken wordt het fruit zorgvuldig geselecteerd en met de hand geoogst voordat het wordt geperst en achtergelaten om te gaan gisten met wilde gisten. De gistende most wordt dan overgebracht in Franse eikenhouten vaten van 500 liter, waar de vinificatie wordt voltooid. De jonge wijn rijpt ongeveer 11 maanden op vat voordat hij wordt gebotteld voor de nieuwe oogst van het volgende jaar.

    Lagen van mango, ananas, steenfruit en zinderende citrus bepalen de neus, samen met hints van hazelnoten, houtrook en vanille van de eikenhouten rijping. De eerste slok onthult een gemiddelde body, intense fruitsmaken en een lange afdronk met een zijdezachte textuur en een verfrissende zuurgraad. Een geweldige wijn om van te genieten bij gebraden kip, rijke pastagerechten of zelfs een royaal bord kaas en vleeswaren.
