Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Decoy is een Californisch wijnhuis dat sinds de release van hun eerste oogst in 1985 deel uitmaakt van Duckhorn Vineyards. Geboren met het doel kant-en-klare wijnen te leveren tegen betaalbare prijzen, heeft Decoy in de loop der tijd zijn fundamentele rol in het merk Duckhorn weggesneden en zijn brede assortiment omvat nu Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir en Sauvignon Blanc, een rode blend, een rosé en een mousserende wijn. Sinds 2020 produceert het bedrijf ook de Decoy Limited lijn, met wijnen in beperkte oplage afkomstig van de meest prestigieuze wijngaarden van Californië.

    De Decoy Limited Napa Valley Red Blend is grotendeels gemaakt van Merlot, met toevoegingen van Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petite Verdot en Zinfandel. Het gematigde klimaat van Californië garandeert de optimale rijping van de druiven en de productie van wijnen met verleidelijke aroma's en zachte, elegante tannines. De afgewerkte wijn rijpt 18 maanden in Franse eikenhouten vaten (40% nieuw).

    Deze gedurfde en intense rode wijn onthult een rijk en boeiend smaakprofiel met aroma's van donkere bessen (cassis, zwarte framboos en kers) en zoete specerijen (nootmuskaat en kruidnagel). In de mond is de wijn rijk en robuust. De tannines zijn zijdezacht en de afdronk is lang en aangenaam, met tonen van bramen en kersen. Het is een prachtig uitgebalanceerde wijn, klaar om nu van te genieten en in staat om een paar jaar te rijpen. Hij past perfect bij varkensvlees en runderribbetjes.
