    Clos du Roy is een verfijnde rode wijn, met een diepe robijnrode tint in het glas - extreem donker voor een Pinot Noir. Hij opent met een expressieve neus van rijpe kersen, aardbeien en viooltjes, ondersteund door hints van aarde en eikenhout. De Clos du Roy is een wijngaard in het noordelijkste deel van Marsannay, op 270 meter boven zeeniveau, op rijke klei-kalksteenbodems.

    Domaine Jean Fournier is een 17e-eeuws landgoed, gelegen in het hart van Marsannay. De wijnmakerij zoals we die vandaag de dag kennen, is echter opgericht in 1962 door Jean Fournier en wordt nu gerund door zijn zoon Laurent. Onder Laurent is het wijnhuis een tijdperk van biologische teelt ingegaan, waardoor het karakter van de Marsannay bodem in elke fles tot zijn recht komt.

    Clos du Roy is medium body en elegant in de mond, met aroma's van zwarte kersen, wilde aardbeien en rode bessen, met subtiele tonen van geroosterd hout, gedroogde kruiden en bosgrond. Zijdezachte tannines en evenwichtige zuren leiden tot een lange, harmonieuze afdronk. Deze wijn past uitstekend bij geroosterd vlees, gevogelte of paddenstoelengerechten.
