Over het algemeen was mijn ervaring positief; ze hebben een breed assortiment aan wijnen, waarvan sommige nergens anders te vinden zijn – de belangrijkste reden waarom ik nog steeds bij hen koop. Bovendien zijn de kortingen redelijk en worden ze vaak aangeboden, maar... hun kortingscodes voor de eerste aanbieding werken alleen bij die eerste aanbieding, wat op zich prima is, maar waarom sturen ze me dan in elk pakket dat ik bestel zo’n kortingsbon, waarom spammen ze me via e-mail en elke keer als ik inlog op de website? Dit stoort me echt... Daarnaast is hun spaarpuntensysteem nutteloos. Ten eerste krijg je maar een schijntje, zelfs als je € 250 aan een bestelling uitgeeft, maar zelfs dat schijntje verloopt als je niet snel weer bestelt, wat op zijn zachtst gezegd oneerlijk is... en tot slot: als je een wijn met kurksmaak krijgt, een wijn met een ander defect of een wijn die gelekt heeft (mijn laatste bestelling bevatte een fles Caymus Cabernet van $100 met een lekkende kurk, waardoor de wijn gekookt en plat smaakte), dan hebben ze geen enkele procedure om de wijn te vervangen of terug te sturen, of om een terugbetaling of vervanging te krijgen – helemaal niets, wat een grote no-no-no is voor elke wijnverzamelaar... Dus al met al geef ik het voorlopig 3 sterren

Drink hem nu of bewaar hem tot 15 jaar. Decanteren is niet nodig, maar open hem bij voorkeur een half uur voor het serveren.

Gesticht in 1972 door Charles Audoin en zijn wijnmakersvrouw Marie-Francoise, wordt Domaine Charles Audoin sinds 2000 geleid door hun zoon Cyril. Begonnen met 3 hectare wijngaarden, bezit het bedrijf nu 14 hectare die enkele van de beste percelen van Marsannay omvatten. De filosofie van het bedrijf is gericht op de productie van wijnen die een zuivere uitdrukking zijn van het druivenras en hun terroir. De resulterende wijnen vertonen een zeer hoge kwaliteit, een grote frisheid en een heerlijke fruitigheid. Ze zijn klaar om in hun jeugd te drinken, maar hebben ook het vermogen om vele jaren sierlijk te rijpen.

De druiven worden handmatig geselecteerd en geoogst. Maceratie en rekken duren 14 tot 18 dagen, afhankelijk van het oogstjaar, om niet te veel materiaal te extraheren, maar juist de fruitigheid en elegantie te bevorderen die typisch zijn voor Pinot Noir. De afgewerkte wijn rijpt vervolgens in eikenhouten vaten.

Domaine Charles Audoin Gevrey Chambertin heeft een prachtige donkere robijnrode kleur. Het geurprofiel onthult fruitige aroma's van aardbei en braam, gevolgd door viooltjes. Met de jaren nemen dierlijke tonen, vleugjes leer en zoethout het over. In de mond is het een rijke, warme en goed gestructureerde wijn. De tannines zijn zijdezacht en elegant. De afdronk is kruidig en heeft een goede lengte. Hij past goed bij wild, rund- of lamsvlees of bij kazen met een sterke smaak, zoals Époisses en Cîteaux.

De filosofie van het bedrijf is gericht op de productie van wijnen die een pure uitdrukking zijn van het druivenras en hun terroir. De resulterende wijnen zijn van zeer hoge kwaliteit, zeer fris en heerlijk fruitig. Ze zijn jong al drinkbaar, maar kunnen ook vele jaren mooi rijpen.
