    De Noord-Spaanse streek Rueda staat bekend om zijn knisperende, frisse witte wijnen gemaakt van de plaatselijke Verdejo druif, maar dit exemplaar van de gerenommeerde producenten Belondrade Y Lurton is gefermenteerd op eikenhout om extra complexiteit en smaakintensiteit toe te voegen. De wijn wordt algemeen beschouwd als een van de beste Verdejo's die tegenwoordig in Rueda worden gemaakt. Hij wordt gemaakt met druiven van 22 biologisch verbouwde percelen die elk afzonderlijk met de hand worden geoogst en gevinifieerd.

    Na de gisting rijpt elke partij gedurende 10 maanden op de droesem in Franse eikenhouten vaten voordat het wijnbouwteam de exacte samenstelling van de uiteindelijke wijn bepaalt. De wijn wordt dan gebotteld en rijpt nog eens 5 maanden in de fles voordat hij klaar is voor vrijgave.

    Het resultaat is een opvallende witte wijn die opent met kenmerkende tonen van toast, gedroogd hooi en witte perziken. De eerste slok onthult een knapperige zuurgraad in evenwicht met een volle body en rijke smaken van steenfruit die lang op de tong blijven hangen. Hoewel deze wijn nu uitstekend te drinken is bij romige kip- of visgerechten en verschillende soorten kaas, zal hij nog beter worden als hij de komende 6 tot 8 jaar zorgvuldig wordt bewaard.
