A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik zag hoe mijn moeder van elke slok met een glimlach genoot, was dat des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    Geschiedenis

    Domäne Wachau is een van de top witte wijnproducenten van Oostenrijk en het enige wijnhuis dat wijnen maakt die alle meest prestigieuze crus van de Wachau vertegenwoordigen. Het functioneert als een grote coöperatie met meer dan 440 hectare wijngaarden in de Wachau die eigendom zijn van de leden. Tot hun topwijngaarden behoren Achleiten, Kollmitz, Loibenberg en Tausend-Eimer-Berg, waarvan het merendeel is aangeplant op steile terrassen langs de Donau.

    De uitdagende omstandigheden in deze wijngaarden helpen bij het produceren van lage opbrengsten van intens, geconcentreerd fruit met een kenmerkende elegantie en evenwicht dankzij verfrissende zuurgraad. Deze ongebruikelijke botteling is gemaakt van duurzaam en biologisch geteeld fruit dat spontaan is gefermenteerd met wilde gisten. Na zes maanden rijping in amfoorvaten van klei wordt de wijn gebotteld zonder toevoeging van zwavel.
