Geschiedenis

Castellare di Castellina is ontstaan uit de samenvoeging van vijf boerderijen in 1968 en ligt nu op een totaal van 80 hectare vlakbij het dorp Castellina in Chianti, in het hart van de Chianti Classico streek. Paolo Panerai, de Italiaanse uitgeversbaas, is sinds de jaren zeventig eigenaar van het wijnhuis en produceert en verkoopt sindsdien met succes wijn aan consumenten over de hele wereld. Het wijnhuis is verantwoordelijk voor de productie van meerdere lijnen wijn (allemaal gedistribueerd door Castellare Distribuzion), maar de Chianti is een van de meest geprezen wijnen die ze produceren en is aantoonbaar de top Chianti in de regio. De wijngaarden mogen dan oud zijn, het wijnhuis zelf heeft een moderne uitstraling en is een topplek voor wijnliefhebbers en toeristen uit de hele wereld.

Belangrijke feiten

De wijngaarden, zelf variëren van 5 tot 30 jaar, omdat ze op gemiddeld 370 meter boven zeeniveau liggen. 33 hectare van het land waarop het wijnhuis staat is gewijd aan de wijngaarden, maar het totale land is grotendeels bebost. Het wijnhuis heeft ook gemengde teelten op 15 hectare en olijfgaarden op nog eens 12 hectare, wat een goed afgeronde ecologie en omgeving biedt.
