Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    In het prachtige dorp Solicchiata, gelegen op de noordoostelijke hellingen van de Etna, werd in 2005 het wijnhuis Pietradolce opgericht, met 11 hectare wijngaarden. De wijngaarden van het landgoed liggen op een hoogte van 600-900 meter boven de zeespiegel en zijn meestal beplant met traditionele struiken die goed bestand zijn tegen het droge mediterrane klimaat.

    Deze moeilijke omstandigheden zijn ideaal voor het maken van heerlijke wijnen met minimale interventie en veel natuurlijk karakter van de druif en het terroir. Hete zonnige dagen helpen de druiven volledig te rijpen, terwijl de koele, frisse nachten de zuren en aroma's behouden. Deze knapperige en verfrissende rosé wordt gemaakt van de plaatselijke Nerello Mascalese druif die hier op de Etna goed gedijt. De druiven worden met de hand geoogst om de kwaliteit te handhaven en worden gefermenteerd in roestvrijstalen tanks om de ware charme van de druivensoort te tonen.

    Mooie nectarine, framboos en veenbes bepalen de neus, terwijl de eerste slok een pittige zuurgraad, een soepele textuur en een levendig gehemelte met rijke rode bessensmaken onthult. De afdronk is zuiver en schoon met veel watertandende frisheid en hints van limoen, sinaasappelschil en rode bessen. In typisch Italiaanse stijl is dit een geweldige wijn om te combineren met eten, zoals verse zeevruchten, gegrilde vis, sushi, groene salades, of zelfs gewoon een eenvoudig kaasplateau.
